My Story

Hello! I'm Suzanne, and I own a wool pellet mill.

`

Where did this project come from?

My journey with wool has been remarkable.  After years of knitting, my affection for wool has only deepened. Intrigued by a friend's suggestion, I experimented with raw wool as mulch in my garden. The results were impressive; my perennials and tomatoes thrived. The next year, they came back full force, thick and beautiful. It was a joy to watch the plants peek through their woolly blanket.

I was eager to spread the word about the benefits of wool in gardening, yet I wondered how many people would be interested in using raw wool as mulch. About this time, wool pellets began appearing in my social media feeds, sparking my curiosity.  About the same time, I observed that my network includes both gardening and wool enthusiasts. Intrigued by the idea of connecting these communities, I did a little research. What might it take to produce wool pellets?  Soon after, I was ready to dive in and purchased a wool shredder and pellet mill.

I am thrilled to be working with wool and producing wool pellets. The challenge now is to convince gardeners, farmers, garden centers, and plant aficionados to try wool pellets and discover the remarkable benefits they provide.

Let's work together

I am enthusiastic about educating gardeners on the remarkable advantages of wool pellets and eager to begin collaborating. By uniting our efforts, we can engage more people and create a more significant environmental impact.

How we might work together:

  • Purchase some wool pellets for yourself, give them a try, and give me feedback.
  • Buy wool pellets for someone you know to let them experience it.
  • Add wool pellets to your inventory and help get them to gardeners and plant enthusiasts.
  • If you're interested in more than 3lbs of pellets, please contact me.
  • If you're a shepherd interested in having your wool turned into pellets, please get in touch.
  • or send me your idea(s) on how we might collaborate.

You can use the contact page or send me an email to thewoolyardllc@gmail.com.

Why do I care?

Incorporating wool into the soil offers significant advantages. Utilizing raw wool, often considered waste, supports shepherds by providing a use for their surplus material. Transforming wool into pellets enhances soil health, helps retain moisture, and deters pests. These wool pellets represent a natural and sustainable choice that encourages regenerative agricultural methods.
